Press conference on safe use of medicine in Uganda

Community Health And Information Network (CHAIN) in partnership with patient organizations in Uganda organized a press conference on safe use of medicine on the 29th March 2012 at Fairway Hotel-Kampala. The practice of unsafe use of medicine is a global public health problem causing death, disability and injury to adults, children and unborn babies and Uganda is not excluded from the same challenges. Safe use of medicines is a goal that requires effort of all stakeholders from, media, policy makers to the medicine users at house hold level. The objectives of the press conference are to: • Engage and involve the media in promoting safe use of medicine • Increase awareness for patients, prescribers, dispensers about proper use of medicines • Encourage effective communication between patients/clients and health workers.
