Therefore, this year CHAIN has joined other stakeholders in the fight against HIV and AIDS, to better contribute to the National Strategic Plan goal of the prevention thematic service area. Under HIV prevention, CHAIN runs national and community sensitization activities which include raising awareness of the great dangers HIV and AIDS, HIV counseling and testing, HIV prevention through sports, condom distribution, organizing seminars, trainings and provision of Information Education and Communication (IEC) materials. Sensitization at community level is through music, dance and drama. This is meant to reach illiterate members of the communities.
Treatment Literacy programme......... Read More One of CHAIN's core objectives is to advocate for increased treatments literacy and access in the Great Lakes Region. In this programme, CHAIN developed the great lakes positive handbook "A Guide to treatment literacy" which is reproduced every year due to new innovations regarding HIV treatment.

Many young people are sexually active but feel that HIV has nothing to do with them or do not feel threatened by it. This year CHAIN decided to put a lot of emphasis on youth empowerment and HIV prevention programmes. CHAIN has continued to use innovative and integrated approaches to help cutting down the escalating incidence of HIV among the young people. These approaches include among others, HIV prevention awareness for the youth through sports and Peer Transformers programme.
